Residential house in Cologne Junkersdorf

We created a 300 m2 residential house for a family of six in the Cologne district of Junkersdorf, consisting of two full storeys and a penthouse-style level. The combination of a dark grey plaster facade and larch formwork visually elevates the building from its surroundings. Inside the building, it is the open-plan living area spanning the full ground level which really impresses. Design features such as changes in level and the free-standing, open fireplace give structure to the area and split parts up without limiting the feeling of openness. The highlights also include the two-storey air space above the dining table and the spacious stairway, both of which are architectonic elements that create a vertical, spatial connection and bring the openness up to the next level.
