Bauhaus Museum Dessau

Our proposal for the Bauhaus Museum Dessau is a solitaire building within the city park, being part of the urban structure. The bi-level structure consists of a massive cylinder resting on top of singular cubes. The resulting space on the ground level allows the park to flow visually through the museum’s structure, an opening gesture towards the city. The inner organization of the building is divided into three characteristic space types: the flowing space, enclosed space and a great space.  The ground floor has the park flowing through it, this is where public gatherings occur. The supporting cubes provide closed rooms for utility and secondary functions. The great room on the upper floor houses the museum’s main exhibition area.
